Dina Meyer was born in Forest Hills Queens New York. Before she finished her junior year, she relocated to Queens to Dix Hills Long Island. Her siblings include two younger ones and an older brother. She started her career in the field of entertainment at nine and was modeling. Her acting career began in The Neighborhood Playhouse, New York. She studied Sanford Meisner's methods with Ron Stetson for three years. Sandra Bullock was among those who received training by this method, as well as Michael Douglas, Jeff Goldblum Leslie Nielsen and Diane Keaton. Her first performance came in Beverly Hills 90210. This meant she had to move out in Los Angeles. Then, she got the role of the main character in the film Johnny Mnemonic, in which she performed the majority of her stunts herself, and established herself as an athletic actress.
